FGEI. Young Protestants reflect upon responsibility and participation

Rome (NEV), May 21, 2018 – The pre-Congresses season of the Protestant Youth Federation in Italy (FGEI), has begun. Between May and June, the young Italian Protestants will meet in three camps organized in Piedmont, Tuscany and Campania, in view of the next National Congress (6-9 December, Methodist Center Ecumene, Velletri, Rome).

“The pre-Congresses will give members the opportunity to address the issues of responsibility and participation, thread of the December Congress”, explained Francesca Litigio, FGEI outgoing secretary.

Among the selected biblical texts, the words of Jesus in Mark 13:34 stand out as an invitation to sharing the tasks: “It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his slaves in charge, each with his work”.

“Responsibility – Litigio added – is a constitutive aspect of our freedom as believers. And it is precisely starting from this freedom, which implies involvement and participation, that we want to question ourselves on our priorities as young protestants, starting from the presence on local territories, to the international and ecumenical relations, up to our space in society”.

The first pre-Congress took place in central Italy, from May 4 to 6 at Casa Cares, in Reggello (Florence). The northern Italy one took place from May 11 to 13,  in Prali (Turin), at the Agape Ecumenical Center; the third one will be held in southern Italy, from June 1 to 3, at Casa Materna, in Portici (Naples).
