The National Evangelization Week dedicated to Martin Luther King

Rome (NEV), May 21,  2018 – The “National Week of Evangelization” called annually by the Synod of the Methodist and the Waldensian churches, to which also participated the churches of the Christian Evangelical Baptist Union in Italy (UCEBI), started on May 7. This year the theme was “The light shines in the darkness” (John 1, 5), with reference to the dream of Martin Luther King, the defender of Afro-Americans civil rights, killed 50 years ago in Memphis (Tennessee, USA).

Numerous events were planned throughout Italy. In particular, for the closing Sunday, the idea was launched to inspire the preaching during the worship services, to a sermon of Martin Luther King, an example of Christian and non-violent witness in the struggle for human rights and against the war.
