Rome (NEV), November 13, 2018 – The national conference on the theme of Creation entitled “Your heart will keep my precepts” (Proverbs 3,1). A creation to be guarded by responsible believers in response to the word of God”, was held in Milan from 19 to 21 of November last..

Together with the National Office for Ecumenism and Interfaith Dialogue (UNEDI) of the Italian Bishop Conference (CEI), which promoted the initiative, the program was worked out with the collaboration of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy (FCEI), the Orthodox Archdiocese

of Italy and Malta of the Constantinople Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Roman Coptic Orthodox Diocese of St. George,  the Church of England and the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy. The meeting proposed a common reflection on the possibility of a practical suggestion to be implemented in local communities, as Italian Christians, and included a final call to the civil and political Italian society.

The program included the participation of various churches representatives on the issues of ecumenism and ecology, among which we remind pastor Peter Pavlovic of the Slocak Lutheran Church and Waldensian pastor Letizia Tomassone.

On November 20 at the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the church of San Martino in Greco, took place a public event, moderated by Mariachiara Biagioni, journalist of SIR (Religious Information Service), which saw the  participation of Luciano Gualzetti, director of Caritas Ambrosiana, Emanuele De Gasperis, representative of the Italian Baptist church, Archimandrite Athenagoras Fasiolo of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. During the evening experiences related to good environmental and ecumenical practices were presented.
The conclusions were entrusted to Monsignor Ambrogio Spreafico, president of the CEI Commission for ecumenism and interfaith dialogue; pastor Luca Maria Negro, president of FCEI; father Ionut Coman, in charge of the ecumenism of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy.
The event was part of an ecumenical journey started in 2016 in Trento, after a long pause from the national conferences on the Lord’s prayer in 1999 and on the Beatitudes in 2003.
