Rome (NEV), January 1st, 2018 – “Martin Luther Park to the Trucca” will soon be the name of the largest green lung of the city of Bergamo, Northern Italy. The Park, which will be named after the German Reformer of the XVI century, is located just a few meters from the Martin Luther King street, named after the Civil rights activist and African American Baptist pastor.
Recently the Town Councilor for innovation of the City of Bergamo, Giacomo Angeloni, gave notice of the decision by the Board of the City Council, who gave the official go-ahead to the entitling at the end of 2017. “It seems a right choice to us, in line with the policy of an administration that distinguished itself over the years for having given voice to different cults and cultures”, said Angeloni.
Last June the larger City Council had already unanimously voted a proposal on the same issue presented by Council member Nicola Eynard, who is also a member of the Waldensian church of Bergamo. The naming ceremony is scheduled for spring 2018.
