Waldensian faculty. Inauguration of the 2018/2019 academic year

Rome (NEV), October 8, 2018 – On Saturday October 6, the 2018/2019 academic year of the Waldensian theology Faculty of Rome was inaugurated, with the opening lecture of the professor of practical theology, Enrico Benedetto. The title of the address was “Turning to God. The evangelical prayer from Luther’s Lord’s prayer to the Pentecostal advent: five centuries between zeal and disenchantment”. The opening worship service was held on Sunday, October 7 at 10.45 at the Waldensian temple in Piazza Cavour, by the pastor Marco Fornerone.
Students in theology can access dedicated scholarships. Numerous training initiatives are organized also outside the Faculty.
In the new academic year the numbers of the last session are confirmed: 12 members, between men and women who intend to become pastors, for the specialist degree course in theology; 15 international students, both from the Erasmus program and from the Melanchthon Center for Ecumenical Studies, activated by the Waldensian Faculty in 2001, in collaboration with the Lutheran Protestant Church in Italy (CELI); 93 students enrolled in the three-year degree in biblical-theological Sciences, whose enrollments are still open; 13 certificate students who obtain a non-academic qualification for those who, for example, intend to be local preachers; 13 auditors; 9 members of the so-called thematic courses, for a total of 155 students.
