Rome (NEV), August 9, 2019 – From 25 to 30 August the Synod of the Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches will take place in Torre Pellice, capital of the Waldensian valleys. The Synod Assembly is the highest decision-making body of the churches and takes charge of making the most important decisions which will then be implemented in the following year of work and presence in Italy.
This Synod closes the mandate of Pastor Eugenio Bernardini who, on the site chiesavaldese.org, invites, with a video message, everybody to participate in this fundamental moment in the life of the churches. “The Synod is a place for taking democratic decisions according to our traditions, but it is also a place of encounter, of knowledge, a place where the churches present the work that has been done and their prospects of testimony. It’s also a feast, a chance to make an experience of knowing who we are, what we think, what projects we have and above all how we make our decisions” says Bernardini.
“The appointment is therefore for Sunday 25 August. Everyone is welcome”, the moderator concludes.

On the eve of the Synod of the Methodist and Waldensian churches, Saturday 24 of  August, will take place the usual pre-synodal meeting organized by the Evangelical Youth Federation in Italy (FGEI), A special year, this one, as both the FGEI and its historic magazine “Gioventù evangelica” (GE), will celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The title of the FGEI pre-Synod is “But how is it that you don’t realize how wonderful the world is?”, inspired by the verse 16 of Psalm 115 “The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but earth he has given to man”.
The appointment, which represents an intergenerational and interdenominational moment to which all are invited, is at 2.30 pm at the Casa Unionista in Torre Pellice (via Beckwith 5), where activities will begin with some laboratories and will go on through the evening.

For information and reservations to the pre-snodal meeting, please write to segreteria.fgei@gmail.com or call 377 4860876. Registration deadline, Wednesday 21st August.
