The “outside world”. After 4 months the emotion of embracing family members

The visits of relatives within the residential structures of the Waldensian Valleys Diaconate resumed on Monday 22 June

Rome (NEV),  July 12, 2020 – After 3 and a half months of no external activities, the residential structures of the Waldensian Diaconate in the Waldensian Valleys reopen to the “outside world”.
The Asilo dei Vecchi of San Germano Chisone, the Waldensian Casa delle Diaconesse, the Rifugio Re Carlo Alberto  and the Uliveto, in Val Pellice, Val Chisone and Val Germanasca –  following the decree of the Piedmont Region with the guidelines to allow the gradual resumption of activities within the residential structures – organized themselves to make the guests meet again with their family members respecting all the measures required: social distancing, mask, time quota of 15 minutes once a week, one person at a time, reservation required for the visit, and outdoor location.
If the organizational-logistical aspect is fundamental for compliance with regulations, so is the emotional and sentimental one that forms the background to each encounter. Strong, intense and unexpected emotions that manifest themselves on the faces of guests and relatives. The social distancing generated by the virus has profoundly undermined the foundation of the services to the person, that is the relationship. What all the operators of these structures want to do now, is to resume life’s journey after the efforts and the worries that have characterized these last months.
