For Giulio Regeni and Patrick Zaki “Stop weapons Egypt”

Rome (NEV), January 2, 2021 – The Italian Peace and Disarmament Network Campaign Coordination (which also includes the Globalization and Environment Commission – GLAM – of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy -FCEI), launched a national mobilization for December 19 last, entitled “Stop Arms to Egypt” to ask for truth and justice for the murder of Giulio Regeni and for freedom and justice for Patrick Zaki.

“We ask for the respect for human rights and freedom of expression and association in Egypt, and in every other Country”, read the statement calling for participation on Saturday 19 December in demonstrations (in compliance with the rules for the pandemic) in front of the Municipalities in every Italian city.

“After having advanced, a few days after the closure of the investigation into the Regeni case, the request to the Government to recall the Italian Ambassador from Egypt, to put a strong pressure on the Egyptian authorities and to cancel the cooperation and arms sale agreements with the regime of al-Sisi – wrote the Peace and Disarmament Network – we decided to call a national symbolic mobilization in all the Italian Municipalities in support of our requests and having as objective the respect for human rights and freedom of expression and of association in Egypt, and in every other Country”.
