The Vinay Award

Rome (NEV), September 14, 2018 – Agnese Iacobelli and Camilla Macciani, students of the University of Florence, are the winners of the third edition of the Archivio Disarmo (Disarmament Archives) – Tullio Vinay Award, with their degree thesis in which they speak of Italy as a Country where integration and meeting between cultures are possible.
The award is dedicated to the memory of Tullio Vinay – Waldensian pastor, educator, and parliamentarian – whose ideas and actions, from Piedmont to the educational engagement in Sicily after the II World War, and his activity in the Senate in favor of coexistence and disarmament, represented an important reference point for the culture of peace and social justice.
The thesis of Agnese Iacobelli (master’s degree) has dealt with the issue of Islamic places of worship in Italy and the national legislative framework that regulates the relationship between the State and the religious confessions. Camilla Macciani (bachelor’s degree) focused on psychological and social suffering deriving from exposure to armed conflicts or inhumane treatment of migrants.

The Awarding Ceremony took place on Thursday 27 September at 5 pm in Rome in the Hall of the Waldensian Church, in Via Marianna Dionigi 59.
